Not for Sale, 30 minute painting.

Having fun with this new technique…no pressure! 9″×12″, pastel on Canson paper. Also listening to pod cast by Leslie Saeta, Artists Helping Artists, “Organizing Your Art Storage”, while working. Very informative. She suggests you move everything you don’t need for making art out of the studio, like frames, framing supplies, and packing materials, etc.. Not for Sale, ‘Posse’

‘Posse’, 9″×12″, pastel on Canson paper. This is a quick 30 minute study. I went to IAPS, International Association of Pastel Societies Bi-Annual show in Albuquerque  and watched a demo by Margaret Evans, a famous Scottish Artist. She challenged us to do 30 minute paintings to try to capture the essence of a scene; the thing that appealed to us in the first place. And if we do this consistently “we will become better painters”. Her process is to SKETCH (5min), BLOCK (10min), and BUILD (15min). So expect a lot of ‘Not for Sale’ from me in the near future. It is also a good way to check out possible compositions and color combos in preparation for a more serious piece of work. What fun!

New Mosaics

All small and on wood panels, ‘Border Collie Pup’, ‘Rufous-sided Hummingbird’ and ‘Raven’.  I think I like the white grout better, like on the hummingbird I used charcoal and I think white would have looked better, oh well, next time.
