Funky Chicken

Scratboard, 4″x4″. Learning something new. I love this medium! Reminds me of being in kindergarten where we drew with colored crayons then covered in black crayon and scratched away. But for ‘adults’ there are so many inks available. First, I covered board with light wash of black scratchboard ink using small air brush. Then painted on chicken in orange, scratched away, added yellow and black with paint brush, then back and forth scratching and painting.  It’s fun!

The Santa Fe Plein Air Painters had their inaugural outing yesterday at the oldest church in the US. It was so much fun! I am not very good at landscape painting but I love being outdoors and really observing a place and plein air painting gives me that and I can only improve with practice, right?!. Plus I love the company of other artists and we have lunch after. If you’d like to join us, we meet the 2nd and 4th Friday’s at locations in and around Santa Fe. More info is available on our face book page,
